Abstract
This paper explores the dialectic that exists between an organization’s desire to operate at digital speed and the expectation of maintaining analog relationships. Instead of arguing for one pole or the other, this paper will investigate the likelihood of achieving a synthesis of these diametrically opposed ideas through the tool of Polarity Map® (Johnson, 2014). The case study of a digital software organization is used to illustrate many Polarity Management concepts through the use of “polarity possibility” situations in order to examine alternate outcomes in comparison to those implemented by the organization. These “what if” situations emphasize the competitive advantage that can be achieved when taking a “Both/And” approach rather than an “Either/Or” approach (Jacobs, 2011). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
