About The COSMA Journal

The Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) promotes and recognizes excellence in sport management education. As an extension of COSMA as a specialized accrediting body, The COSMA Journal cultivates and disseminates scholarly research and commentary to promote and recognize excellence in sport management education.

Inherent to COSMA’s mission is a student-centric ideological approach; the sport management student is meant to be the primary focus of faculty in sport management higher education. Accordingly, The COSMA Journal invites contributions that examine and identify pedagogical practices and instructional designs seeking to improve the sport management student experience. While practical submissions are strongly encouraged, we believe that theory is a valuable tool informing practice. As such, theoretical contributions, conceptualizations, and scholarly commentary are also readily welcomed for submission.

Teaching and instruction are inherently a central component of a faculty member’s role. The COSMA Journal seeks to enable sport management faculty to gain and continually develop the skills to best serve students. To this end, The COSMA Journal is an open access and indexed publication available to sport management faculty, instructors, doctoral students, and more.

Submitted work to The COSMA Journal may be rooted in a focus, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Outcomes Assessment
  • Pedagogy
  • Pedagogical advancement
  • Value of accreditation
  • Best practices in sport management instruction
  • DEI in the classroom and campus community
