Abstract
This paper aims to uncover the interlinkage between older adults and technology, focusing on the use of technology to enrich the lives of this group of people while also acknowledging the dynamic nature of this demographic. Modern technology is developing at a breakneck pace, and this brings several advantages by improving the lives of older adults, such as efficiently managing their health through tele-rehabilitation, connecting with their family and friends through social networks and games, and online classes. However, such benefits come hand in hand with challenges like physical and mental health issues, technology phobia and illiteracy, and perceived redundancy of technology (Kuerbis et al., 2017). Also, socioeconomic status, support, and technology features significantly impact the overall adoption rate of older people. Hence, drawing from current literature and published empirical evidence, this paper seeks to discover ways of managing these challenges. Solutions include self-development training and proposals for low-literacy computer users to create more navigable and usable interfaces, followed by extensive publicity crusades to eliminate digital literacy gaps (Yeboah et al., 2007). As such, this study aims to identify these barriers and develop practical recommendations to improve the lives of older people through technology integration into their daily lives. Hence, the research highlights the need for a four-pronged strategy to ensure e-inclusion of older adults.
