Abstract
"Bridging Abilities Within and Beyond the Classroom: Disability and Collaborative Empathy" examines the importance of critical empathy upon fostering the relationships between disabled students and their able-bodied counterparts to optimize collaboration both in the post-secondary composition classroom and within the greater community. Expanding upon current scholarship within disability studies, we propose a thoughtful approach to improve communication with differently-abled student writers.
Ashley Doonan and Jonathan Brownlee are colleagues in Bowling Green State University's Rhetoric and Writing doctoral program. They are both third-year students with a shared interest in collaboration.
