Master of Arts in English Plan II Graduate Projects
Abstract
Diversity and inclusion are at the center of this final portfolio, showcasing the educational experience I've had as a Master of Arts in the field of English with a Specialization in English Teaching at Bowling Green State University. English as a field of study presents many career opportunities, and the pedagogies, skills, and ideas present in this portfolio will be carried and applied at some level, in any career I seek in the future. In this portfolio, I examine themes of empathy and the graphic novel in Alison Bechdel's Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic; diversity and the vernacular in Angie Thomas' The Hate U Give; and sensitive pedagogy in creating a lesson plan for Jane Austen's Emma.
