Abstract

This panel will discuss issues surrounding the Palestinian Conflict through film and literature. Based on films and readings explored in ENG 6800: Palestinian Conflict in Film, a graduate seminar that was taught in Fall 2017, this panel will discuss Palestinian identity, history, perseverance under occupation, and the ever lasting issue of borders. Especially with the current situation regarding the lack of acknowledgment of Palestine and the Palestinian people by the United States, the Conflict is an important topic for discussion. Some of the questions that presentations in this panel will discuss include: what is the historical background of the Palestinian Conflict, how is the Conflict represented through Palestinian film, and what are possible avenues of exploration for educating the general population about the Conflict?
