Abstract
I estimate a relationship between employment and technology used in the workplace using a variable regression approach. I used Federal Research Economic Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on employment in the manufacturing sector, manufacturing sectoral output on output, motor vehicle output, fabricated metal manufacturing output, and food manufacturing output. I also used data on the amount of technology used in the production process. I find that technology has an overall negative effect on employment.
