Music and Peace and Conflict Studies
Abstract
Music is and has been a tool of conflict resolution. This is a euphonium lecture recital on music as a means of peace studies and conflict resolution. Works by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Joseph De Luca, Andrew Scott and Lemn Sissay, Baadsvik, and Ruby Fulton. The program specifically looks into World Wars I and II and the Black Lives Matter and I Can't Breathe Movements and the reciprocating relationship between the issues addressed in these movements and music produced in response.
