This Family Profile uses National Survey of Adoptive Parents (NSAP) data to describe the approximately 1.8 million adopted children in the U.S. The NSAP is an offshoot of the 2007 National Survey of Children’s Health and is the first-ever large, nationally representative dataset describing adopted children aged 0-17 years, as well as their adoptive families (excluding stepparent adoptions)
